Description ∟
In the form of a diptych, Turungo offers an analytical and documentary investigation into the artistic work of Gonzalo Díaz, comprising working materials, production, and records of the creative process behind five of the artist's emblematic works. Thus, this book opens with a conversation between Díaz and philosopher Federico Galende that delves not only into the details of how art is conceived and how it is specifically manifested in the artist's work, but also into a dialogue between different elements of analysis that allow his work to be contextualized within current theoretical debates on Chilean history in general. Based on this reflection, Turungo provides a perspective for delving into the profuse archival work of pieces such as Lonquén, Fotoperformance, and Unidos en la Gloria y en la Muerte (United in Glory and Death) through a diverse selection of documents that address not only the uniqueness of Gonzalo Díaz's creative work, but also how the always complex relationship between art and politics is realized.
