Gastón Carreño
Gastón Carreño holds a PhD (2014) and a Master's degree (2007) in Latin American Studies and a degree in Social Anthropology (2002) from the University of Chile. His main areas of research include studies in photography and film on indigenous peoples, as well as studies on coastal groups and whaling. He has worked as an undergraduate and graduate academic at various universities in Chile and abroad (Uruguay, Ecuador, Mexico, and Cuba). He also served as coordinator of the Center for Visual Anthropology Studies (2012-2018) and director of the Journal of Visual Anthropology (2000-2025). He currently works as a researcher at the Diego Barros Arana Research Center, National Library.
