Jack Halberstam

Jack Halberstam is a world-renowned queer theorist, known for his groundbreaking work on the aesthetics of failure and his profound analysis of subaltern cultures. He is a professor of Gender Studies and English at Columbia University and the author of several books, including Skin Shows: Gothic Horror and the Technology of Monsters (Duke UP, 1995), Female Masculinity (Duke UP, 1998), In A Queer Time and Place (NYU Press, 2005), and The Queer Art of Failure (Duke UP, 2011). In 2018, he was awarded the Arcus/Places Prize for his contributions to the study and reflection on gender, sexuality, and the built environment.
