On Wednesday, 3 August, at 6:30 p.m., we welcomed Ariel Florencia Richards to Il Posto Documentos, who gave a lecture entitled ‘Mirada rara: un encuentro con el arte queer’ (A Strange View: An Encounter with Queer Art) to an audience of more than 30 people. In this presentation, the writer and doctoral candidate in Arts at the Catholic University raised the question of the meaning of queer in the context of Chilean art and where it can be found today.
Ariel Florencia Richards is a designer, writer and visual arts critic with a Bachelor’s degree in Aesthetics and a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from New York University. Her lecture ‘Mirada Rara’ (Strange Gaze) revisits some of the reflections she has developed in the context of her doctoral studies, which explore the relationships between performance, gender and memory.
