Diagonal: new Il Posto Research Network

About Diagonal

Diagonal is an inter-university platform created by the Il Posto Research Centre in 2024 with the aim of promoting encounters and forming links between students who are completing postgraduate programs in areas related to art theory and history, architecture, and design. The proposal is simple: each year, we will select 10 master’s and/or doctoral students interested in advancing their careers as researchers and invite them to participate in a series of five bimonthly meetings where they can present and discuss their recent work, projects, and/or lines of research.

About the 2024 Call for Applications

This academic year, the invitation to join Diagonal was extended exclusively to students enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Art Theory and History at the University of Chile; the Master’s Degree in Image Studies at Alberto Hurtado University; the Master’s Degree in Art History at the Adolfo Ibáñez University; the Master’s Degree in American Aesthetics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile; and the Master’s Degree in Latin American Art, Thought, and Culture at the University of Santiago.

After a successful call for applications and a highly competitive evaluation process, we selected 10 students from these programs to join our Network of Researchers in 2024. Those selected are:
-Martín Díaz (UCH)
-Florencia Guevara (UAH)
-George Somerville (UAH)
-Verónica Polanco (UAH)
-Tania Salazar (UAI)
-Sofía Montealegre (UAI)
-Henry Miranda (UC)
-Tomás Morales (UC)
-Juan Luis Tamayo (USACH)
-Tania González (USACH)

In addition to participating in Diagonal meetings, the selected students will have the opportunity to publish their own texts in a small digital dossier, compete for an exclusive spot in the Il Posto Research Grant, and participate in meetings with artists, guests, and collaborators of Il Posto.
