Carlos Altamirano
Carlos Altamirano is a Chilean visual artist born in San Carlos in 1954. He studied architecture at the University of Chile in Valparaíso and after two years he dropped out to enter the School of Arts at the Catholic University of Chile, where he was a student and assistant to Eduardo Vilches. In the late seventies and early eighties he was in charge of programming the Cromo, CAL and Sur galleries and editing a series of documents, catalogs and art magazines together with Nelly Richard and Carlos Leppe. His work was considered by Richard as a fundamental part of the so-called "Escena de Avanzada."
