Pedro Lemebel
Pedro Lemebel was a writer and artist born in Santiago in 1952. His novels, chronicles, essays and performances are internationally known for exploring through an innovative and provocative style the experiences and difficulties of the gay world, especially in the Chilean lower class environments. In 1987, together with Francisco Casas, he created the collective «Yeguas del Apocalipsis», which developed extensive work in photography, video and above all performance. He has earned several awards and recognitions throughout his life, including the Guggenheim and Rhodes Fellowships, the Anna Seghers Prize and the José Donoso Ibero-American Literary Prize.
