Talca, 1933

Julia Toro was a visual artist and photographer born in Talca in 1933. In 1970, she joined the School of Fine Arts at the University of Chile as an open student, and in 1973, she began her career as a self-taught photographer. Her work is known for capturing images related to the passage of time, memory, and affections. Since 1976, she started exhibiting her photographic works, participating in both solo and group exhibitions at venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), Sala Gabriela Mistral, and Sala Arturo Edwards at the Chilean-British Institute of Culture in Santiago, of which she is also a founder.
