Enrique Zañartu
Enrique Zañartu was a Chilean painter born in Auteuil in 1921. He studied printmaking at Atelier 17 under the British artist William Hayter, where he worked alongside artists such as Yves Tanguy, Max Ernst, and the Chilean artist Carlos Faz. Like his brother, Nemesio Antúnez, Zañartu placed significant importance on printmaking as a medium of artistic expression, challenging its status as a "lesser art." Although he developed his career in Europe, his work was always connected to Chile and its national events, maintaining contact through frequent visits and exhibitions.
