Carlos Motta is a visual artist born in Bogotá in 1978 and currently based in New York. His practice is known for questioning the dominant ideas around sexuality and gender using a wide variety of media, including installation, sculpture, drawing and performance. He has exhibited in prestigious spaces, such as the Tate Modern; the Guggenheim Museum; the MoMA and the MACBA. He has also been recognised with various awards and scholarships, including the Main Prize of the Future Generation Award, awarded by Pinchuk Art Centre, and the Guggenheim, Art Matters, NYSCA and Creative Capital Foundation Fellowships.
