Il Posto Research Grant Conference
18:30 hours
Next Tuesday, September 3, current Il Posto fellows Vania Montgomery and Roberto González will hold a conference to present the results of the projects they have been working on. The event will take place at our Research and Documentation Centre at 6:30 p.m.
Over the past four months, Vania Montgomery and Roberto González have been working on two research projects that address the work of some of the artists and thematic nuclei of the exhibition Un Aire de Distancia (“An Air of Distance”), presented in the Il Posto exhibition hall during the first half of 2024.
On the one hand, Montgomery’s research addresses three works by Eugenio Dittborn in the Il Posto Collection —Reinas (1979), Pieta (Cholguán) (1983), and Un día entero de su vida (1984)—using a “forensic” approach, that is, digging into the layers that appear in these works through the dissection of elements, techniques, and operations and the discovery of “found images.”
For his part, Roberto González has proposed conducting a cross-temporal comparative study between the works of Johann Moritz Rugendas and Teresa Margolles, emphasizing the human-nature relationship observed in both projects and using a posthumanist approach that allows us to understand how the inhabitants of the continent have related to nature and the landscape throughout history.
