Enrique Ramírez at Il Posto
18:30 hours
On Tuesday, December 13, Enrique Ramírez, an artist from the Il Posto Collection, visited Il Posto Documentos to talk with art theorist and historian Ignacio Szmulewicz about some of his recent and future works.
The meeting at Il Posto Documentos confirmed that Ramírez’s work is, as Szmulewicz said, ‘a work that has a very unique poetic, visual, investigative and installation approach compared to what had been seen in Chilean art from the late 1980s to the 2000s.’ It is, in effect, a work that emotionally engages the viewer, enveloping them with images and sounds to address themes that had previously been treated in a more detached manner, such as memory, politics, recent history and human rights.
During the conversation, the guests reflected at length on four of the artist’s projects: “Ocean”, “Incerteza”, “Dos brillos blancos agrupados y giratorios” (Two grouped and rotating white glows) and “Jusque-la”.
