Printed dialogues

This exhibition celebrates an exploratory exercise carried out by the Catholic University School of Design in collaboration with Il Posto. An idea that began in its infancy and today culminates in ten publications that revisit the work of five key figures in the national art scene of the 1970s and 1980s: artists Carlos Leppe, Eugenio Dittborn, Gonzalo Díaz, and Francisco Smythe, and writer Nelly Richard.

In this exhibition, 30 design students engage in dialogue with works and documents from the Il Posto Archive and propose a publication based on this material. Through reinterpretation, they give these works a new life that reflects the present. This exercise invites us to reflect on how objects and images construct our understanding of the world.

Printed Dialogues, therefore, is not only an academic exercise paying tribute to the work of the artists and writers found in the Il Posto Archive, but also an exploration of the creative possibilities offered by material culture. Through the eyes of the students of the School of Design, a fragment of our history takes on a new dimension, a reflection of the strange and persistent relationship we have with things.
