During the last four months, Vania Montgomery and Roberto González have been working on two research projects that address the work of some of the artists and the thematic nuclei of the exhibition An air of distance, presented at Il Posto’s exhibition hall during the first semester of 2024.
On the one hand, Montgomery’s research approaches three works by Eugenio Dittborn present in the Il Posto Collection –Reinas (1979), Pieta (Cholguán) (1983) and Un día entero de su vida (1984)- using a “forensic” approach, that is, digging into the layers that appear in these works through the dissection of elements, techniques and operations and the finding of “found images.”
For his part, Roberto González has proposed a transtemporal comparative study between the works of Johann Moritz Rugendas and Teresa Margolles, emphasizing the human-nature relationship observed in both projects and using a posthumanist approach that allows us to understand how the inhabitants of the continent have related, throughout history, with nature and the landscape.
