Joseph Beuys
Joseph Beuys was an artist born in Krefeld in 1921. He studied sculpture at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf and in 1962 began his activities in the Fluxus movement, of which he became one of the most important members. Considered one of the key artists of the contemporary scene, Beuys worked with diverse techniques and expressive media, from drawing, painting and sculpture to performance and action art. His works are also known for incorporating unorthodox materials, such as animal fat and felt, which in a way suggested that art, common materials and "everyday life" were ultimately inseparable.
