Benjamín Lira Valdés is a Chilean painter and sculptor born in Santiago de Chile in 1950. He studied architecture at the Catholic University of Valparaíso and between 1977 and 1979 he studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, where he obtained a Master's degree in Fine Arts. He was awarded the Critics' Prize in 1987 and in 2003 was named a member of the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts. His work is part of public collections such as the National Museum of Fine Arts, the MAC Valdivia, and the Salvador Allende Solidarity Museum.
