Fernando Bryce is a visual artist born in Lima in 1965. He did his early studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and at the Leslie Lee painting workshop, and then continued his training at the Université Paris VII Arts Plastiques and at Christian Boltanski's workshop at l'École des Beaux Arts. His work, which has focused on the meticulous hand-copying of images of mass culture (historical documents, magazines, newspapers, political pamphlets, among others), has been exhibited in solo shows at MALI, MALBA and MUAC, as well as in group exhibitions in Germany, Spain, Russia, Puerto Rico and Peru (among other countries). He has also received several awards, including the Deutsche Akademie in Rom Villa Massimo, Artist in Residency and the National Biennial of Lima in 2000.
