Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe
Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe is an indigenous contemporary artist who was born in 1971, and currently lives in Pori Pori, a Yanomami community. His artistic career began in 1992, when he learned to craft paper with native fibres under the guidance of the Mexican artist Laura Anderson Barbata. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennial, the Sydney Biennale and the Triennial in Milan, as well as in collective exhibitions at the MoMA, The Shed and the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain. His work is in the collections of the MoMA, British Museum, Museum, Queen Sofia Museum, MALI and MALBA, among many others.
